Thank you for taking an interest and helping to promote art during these challenging times.
With galleries closing and artists exhibitions being cancelled or postponed due to the Corona Virus outbreak we decided to create this resource to try and re-create the gallery experience as best as possible for artists and visitors alike.
The Absent Gallery is divided over three levels, The Main Gallery, The Feature Gallery and The Galleria.
The Main Gallery
The purpose of the Main Gallery is exhibit a curated series of rolling virtual “Open Style” exhibitions from the artwork submitted by artists predominantly from Somerset but not excluding neighbouring counties. Our intention is to create at least one new exhibition a month, possibly more if the uptake by artists is positive enough.
Submission does not guarantee inclusion. Each exhibition will be curated as in the real world, with each exhibition having a consistent and carefully selected content that creates a united experience. Any work which has not been photographed to a high enough standard will be discounted.
Each piece of artwork that is exhibited is linked directly to you, in whatever way you want, be it to your contact page on your website for example. For the time being there is no commission and any enquiries or sales will be handled directly by you the artist.

Maximum of 10 images can be submitted at any one time. Images need to be less than 5mb each and no smaller than 1500px on the long edge. jpeg or png files only.

The Feature Gallery
The purpose of the Feature Gallery is to exhibit virtual exhibitions that have been created by you. The Absent Gallery more than happy to promote your self made exhibition free of charge
Submitting your own virtual exhibition does not guarantee that they will be featured but we will aim to exhibit as many as possible.
You must be able to grant The Absent Gallery permission to show all content within any exhibition, which will include permission from any artists that are collaborating in group shows.

The Galleria
This section is dedicated to real world galleries that wish to exhibit their current, postponed or cancelled exhibitions.
We can help you to recreate your exhibition, virtually, in a bid to carry on as normal as possible. This could be you making one yourself or we can help create and manage one for you. Either way we would love to share and promote your exhibitions on The Absent Gallery for free.
