MAIN GALLERY - Open Call Terms & Conditions

By Submitting Artwork

Submitting your artwork for consideration to be exhibited in this exhibition does not guarantee that your work will be selected.
If your work is selected you grant The Absent Gallery permission to use your artwork to create a virtual interactive exhibition using the third party virtual platform software provided by Kunstmatrix.
You must be the creator of the original artwork and hold the copyright before submitting.

 

Images of Artwork

Artists can submit up to 6 images each.
Images of artwork should be in jpeg or png file format.
Files should be saved as the artwork’s title I.e TheScream.jpeg
File size and resolution: The bigger the better but at least 2MB or 1800px.
RGB colour profile.
Images can include artwork in frames but not behind glass. An artwork in a frame may be cropped and the frame recreated digitally by TAG.

 

Information required with each artwork

  • Title of Artwork
  • Artist name
  • Unframed Dimensions in cms (width, height and depth)
  • Year of creation
  • Medium.
  • Description (if applicable)
  • (Frame Details if applicable)
    • Overall Dimensions in cms (Width, Height, Depth)
    • Frame profile width
    • Colour.
      We will do our best to recreate the appearance of your frame but please accept that there are limitations.

 

Editing and Preparation of Artwork images

We will make edits to images include resizing and minor corrections, for example; cropping and correction of camera lens distortions.
Any image requiring more than 5 mins of editing will be parked and the artist will be contacted and consulted. On instruction from the artist parked images will either be rejected completely from the exhibition or new images supplied by the artist.
If The Absent Gallery is able to rescue an image with further editing the artist will be provided with a price for our services before the work is carried out.

 

In Built Links

Each artwork will be linked to the artist.
The links will go to your preferred destination, whether it is to a contact page of website.
Links will appear along side each artwork when the viewer is looking at any piece in detail view.

 

Hanging and Curation

The Absent Gallery will curate the virtual exhibition.
The Absent Gallery reserves all curatorial decisions as final.

 

Publishing

We will publish the virtual exhibition on the commencement date of the exhibition.
The virtual exhibition will be published on the Kunstmatrix website, embedded in The Absent Gallery’s website and the embedding code can be shared with participants for inclusion on their own website upon request.
The Virtual Exhibition will be visible for all to see and visit.
When the exhibition is concluded access to view the exhibition will be no longer possible, except through archived images and videos.

 

Sales

The Absent Gallery will take no commission on any sales from the virtual exhibition.
Dealing with sale enquiries is completely the responsibility of the artist, as is handling payment and delivery of artwork.
When a painting has sold please advise The Absent Gallery and we will mark it as sold virtually with a red dot within the virtual exhibition.

 

How will we Promote

Trailer/ launch promotional graphics
Trailer graphics, launch graphics will be created by The Absent Gallery to promote each new exhibition.
Additional promotional graphics will be created throughout the exhibition to continually promote.

 

Use of promotional graphics

For promotion of the virtual exhibition over our social media platforms.

 

Sharing promotional graphics with you

Capture of images from Virtual exhibition which will be combined into an animated video. The video will also use still images of featured artwork to provide close ups and content. The video will feature a title and credit graphics. The title and or credit graphics will include Participating artist names exhibition title and a link to the back to The Absent Gallery website.
Content of animated video: We will include as much of the virtual exhibition as possible and provide close up shots of artists’ work at our discretion. We can not guarantee to give all work featured equal coverage.
Final direction and edit is at the discretion of The Absent Gallery.
Video files will saved in a mp4 format
The mp4 file format will be provided to the artist for their own promotional use.

 

Costs

0% commission
Free to submit artwork until further notice.

 

Copyright permission

You must be the copyright holder of any artwork that you submit. The Absent Gallery takes no responsibility for legal matters arising from failure to comply with this requirement.
The Absent Gallery will ensure that all accreditation is given to the participating artists when promoting.
The Absent Gallery will not assume any rights to the artwork contained within the virtual exhibition.
Copyright remains the ownership of the artist.
By instructing The Absent Gallery to create a Virtual Exhibition you are granting permission to us to publish the virtual exhibition on our website and to promote the exhibition and it’s content across our social media platforms and website. You will be granting The Absent Gallery permission to create images, videos and graphics from the exhibition, which may contain images of your artwork, for the sole purpose of promoting the exhibition.

 

Augmented Reality

The augmented reality application KUIO is provided as an integrated facility by the Kunstmatrix platform.
This app is free to download for the applestore
The Absent Gallery accepts no responsibility for it’s installation or function.

 

Responsibility

The Absent Gallery will:

Accept no responsibility for any down time cause by website server issues.
The Absent Gallery reserves the right to remove the Virtual Gallery from it’s website at any time should the content of the exhibition be deemed as offensive, illegal or immoral.
The Absent Gallery will terminate the Virtual Gallery when the exhibition has concluded.

You will:

Be responsible for the accuracy of any links provided
Ensure that all copyright permissions have been received
Advise The Absent Gallery when a sale has taken place.
Be responsible for all sale enquiries
Be responsible for all deliveries of any sold work.

Any advice or guidance given on The Absent Gallery Website is based on personal experience and personal opinion and is taken at your own risk.

 

Our Recommendations

The Absent Gallery’s personal recommendation is a virtual 3d platform provided by Kunstmatrix.com
The Absent Gallery has no affiliation with Kunstmatrix and does not receive any referral or financial benefit by recommending them.
Any contract entered into with Kunstmatrix is your own responsibility and The Absent Gallery accepts no responsibility for their service to you.

 

Hosting

One exhibition per month, only one virtual exhibition can be shared with The Absent Gallery within a 30 day period.
Profile Page
The profile page created for you is free
The profile page will be customised with: Artist name, contact details, any website and social media links. In the case of Real World Galleries we will create an enhanced profile page which will also include a logo, business details, opening hours and also provide an embedded Google Map.
All virtual exhibitions will be contained within your profile page
The Absent Gallery will direct all visitors straight to the profile page in all promotion.
Where requested The Absent Gallery will also provide a link or url address to the artists’ / Real World Gallery’s website.
Archiving exhibitions: If you take out The Additional Promotional Package we will show video or image captures of exhibitions which have concluded on the profile page.
Hosting will be terminated at your request or should you cancel subscription.

 

General Promotion

Trailer/ launch promotional graphics
Either a Trailer graphics, launch graphics or both will be created by The Absent Gallery to promote each new exhibition.
Will include an image captured from your virtual exhibition or it’s content. Any Real World Gallery logo, participating artist(s) name, exhibition title, sub-title, website address to your profile page on The Absent Gallery’s website.

The artist or real World Gallery will be provided with a copy of the promotional graphics which they are welcome to freely use over they own social media channels and networking platforms.

The addition of each exhibition as from 1st August is £50 per exhibition.
There is no charge to produce a profile page
There is no charge to share Virtual exhibitions with The Absent Gallery until the end of the promotional period.
Promotional period expires on the 31st July 2020

Sharing Code

By sharing a Virtual Exhibition with The Absent Gallery the Real World Gallery is granting The Absent Gallery permission and the permission from all participating artists to display, promote and present the exhibition and it’s content across our social media platforms and website. You will be granting The Absent Gallery permission to create images, videos and graphics from your exhibitions for the sole purpose of collaborating in the promotion your exhibition.

 

Copyright Permission

You must have the permission of all the participating copyright holders, to share the contents of the virtual exhibition with us and they must be aware that we will be using images from your exhibition which may contain images of their work for the sole purpose of promoting your exhibition and the contents within. The Absent Gallery takes no reasonability for legal matters arising from failure to obtain the necessary copyright permissions.
The Absent Gallery will ensure that all accreditation is given to the participating artists when promoting.
The Absent Gallery will not assume any rights to the creation or curation of the virtual exhibition nor it’s content.

 

Use of any Logo and Business details

By sharing your virtual exhibition with The Absent Gallery you are requested to provide us with permission to use any company logo and business details. This information will only be used to create your profile page and linking page on our website and in any graphics that we produce for the sole purpose of promoting your exhibition(s).

 

Promoting Across Social Media

The Absent Gallery is acting as the host for your Virtual Exhibition and will be “Presenting” the exhibitions that you share, with visitors across our social media platforms and our website. The Absent Gallery assures you that no credit will be taken by us for the curation or creation of the exhibitions that you share with us nor will we be credited for representing any exhibiting artists. Full accreditation will always be clearly given to the ownership and contents of the Virtual Exhibition.

 

Augmented Reality

The augmented reality application KUIO is provided as an integrated facility by the Kunstmatrix platform.

  • Remove any virtual exhibition that has concluded
  • The Absent Gallery will promote your exhibition with a Trailer / Launch graphics over our social media channels and website. Periodically followed by a series of images captured from your exhibition, the exact amount of images will be at our discretion which will depend on content.
  • We will not distribute the Virtual Exhibitions to any third party.
  • Accept no responsibility for any down time cause by website server issues.
  • The Absent Gallery reserves the right to remove your Virtual Gallery form it’s website at any time should the content of the exhibition be deemed as offensive, illegal or immoral.
  • The Absent Gallery reserves the right to remove your Virtual Gallery from it’s website should we find that your exhibition has concluded.

You will:

  • Be responsible for the accuracy of the content of the exhibitions
  • The accuracy of any links contained within the virtual exhibitions
  • ensure that all copyright permissions have been received
  • Be responsible for subscription payments for your virtual exhibition.
  • Advise The Absent Gallery when your virtual exhibition expires.
  • Be responsible for all sale enquiries.
  • Be responsible for all deliveries of any sold work.

 

FEATURE GALLERY / GALLERIA - Instructing TAG to Create an Exhibition Terms & Conditions

Any advice or guidance given on The Absent Gallery Website is based on personal experience and personal opinion and is taken at your own risk.

 

Managed Account

You grant The Absent Gallery permission to create a profile account on the third party virtual platform provided by Kunstmatrix, on your behalf.
The Absent Gallery will be responsible for payments to Kunstmatrix and will invoice you separately.
The Absent Gallery will be the administrator of your account.
The profile account will be under your single, group or Real World Gallery name and feature any logo.
This account will only be used for your exhibitions.
Accounts are priced by usage requirements. You will be advised of the costs at the point of order but as an example a basic plan charged by Kunstmatrix will cost £11pcm* and will get you 50 artworks and 5 live exhibitions. (*Approximated after exchange rate and correct at time of publish)
As your requirements expand or contract so will your subscription payments. We will advise you of any need to increase or decrease your subscription plan.
Failure to pay The Absent Gallery for the Kunstmatrix subscription will result in the termination of your profile account and the loss of any artwork and virtual exhibitions.

 

Point of Contact

We would need a lead point of contact when dealing with groups or Real World Galleries for general exhibition information but we are happy to liaise directly with participating artists when acquiring images and image information.

We will include the addition of artwork title, dimensions, artist’s name, technique and description (if applicable) for each piece.
In-built links for each artwork will be provided
Any frame and or mount will be recreated. (Limited accuracy)

 

In Built Links

Artwork links will appear along side each artwork when the viewer is looking at any piece in detail view.
The links will go to your preferred destination, whether it is to the individual artist or to the Gallery manager.

 

Picking the environment

When instructed to build a virtual exhibition on your behalf we will choose the environment which is the most appropriate depending on the quantity and size of the artwork that is to be exhibited.
Our choices are based on our experience of what will look best.

 

In exhibition text

This will be made bespoke for each exhibition and will include an exhibition title graphics and any exhibition description / information that may be of interest to the viewer. This will also include any information which is integral to the exhibition.
The font and layout of the text is at the discretion of The Absent Gallery.
Amendments can be discussed during the exhibition review.

 

Hanging and Curation

It is necessary for The Absent Gallery to hang and curate the virtual exhibition on your behalf.
For Real World Galleries there will be a chance to discuss the curation and make any amendments required.

 

Preview

Before we publish your virtual exhibition we will invite you to have a preview. This will mean that your exhibition will be temporarily published on the Kunstmatrix platform so that we can share a link with you to preview the exhibition.
Any amendments to the exhibition can be discussed and where possible we will be happy to make these for you. Some amendments may not be possible or may have wider implications, which we will discuss you.
In terms of the Curation, with an exception for Real World Galleries, The Absent Gallery has the final curatorial decision.

 

Publishing

We will publish your virtual exhibition once it is ready to go live.
The virtual exhibition will be published on the Kunstmatrix website, embedded in The Absent Gallery’s website and the embedding code provided to you for inclusion on your own website.
The Virtual Exhibition will be visible for all to see and visit.

 

Sales

The Absent Gallery will take no commission on any sales from exhibitions that we have created for you.
Dealing with sale enquiries is completely your responsibilty, as is handling payment and delivery of artwork.

The creation of a virtual exhibition is charged at £250 per day or £125 per half a day.
Charges will be made of whole or half day.
There is no charge to produce a profile page
General Promotion is complimentary when you have a virtual exhibition created
Charges for the Additional Promotional Package will take affect from the 1st August 2020.
